Field | Description |
---|---|
Fiscal Year |
Enter, or click to select, the fiscal year of the period for which you are entering exchange rates. |
Period |
Enter, or click to select, the fiscal period for which you are entering exchange rates. |
Period Start Date |
This column displays the period start date based on the fiscal year and period combination you selected. |
Period End Date |
This column displays the period end date based on the fiscal year and period combination you selected. |
Period-End Rate |
Enter the exchange rate to be used for period-end currency conversion. When you use period rates (rather than daily rates), this rate defaults for those transactions with a rate date that is the last day of the period. |
Period-End Rate Change % |
This field displays the period-end rate change percentage. To calculate this percentage, Costpoint subtracts the prior period-end rate from the current period-end rate and then divides this result by the prior period-end rate. You cannot edit this column. If the change percentage exceeds the rate change tolerance specified on the Manage Exchange Rate Groups screen, Costpoint displays an error message and the new rate is not allowed. For example, if the fluctuation limit for this currency from/to combination is 5 percent, you cannot enter any rate that is a change (either positive or negative) of more than 5 percent. (If you edit pre-existing rows of period rates, only the edited row is validated against the fluctuation limit.) |
Period-Average Rate |
Enter the exchange rate to be used for period average currency conversion. |
Period-Average Rate Change % |
This field displays the period-average rate change percentage. To calculate this percentage, Costpoint subtracts the prior period-average rate from the current period-average rate and divides this result by the prior period-average rate. You cannot edit this field. If the change percentage exceeds the rate change tolerance specified in the Manage Exchange Rate Groups screen, Costpoint displays an error message and the new rate is not allowed. For example, if the fluctuation limit for this currency from/to combination is 5 percent, you cannot enter any rate that is a change (either positive or negative) of more than 5 percent. (If you edit pre-existing rows of period rates, only the edited row is validated against the fluctuation limit.) |
Historical Rate |
Use this field to convert stockholders' equity balance (which is generally paid-in capital + retained earnings) stated in terms of functional currency to another company's balance sheet when consolidating financial statements. You can use this field when the stockholders' equity balance has a single transaction posted to a particular account. You cannot use this field when this account has multiple transactions posted to the particular account because each individual posted record requires an historical rate that you established on the day of the transaction. |
Historical Rate Change % |
This field displays the historical rate change percentage. To calculate this percentage, Costpoint subtracts the prior historical rate from the current historical rate and divides the result by the prior historical rate. You cannot edit this field. (If you edit pre-existing rows of historical rates, only the edited row is validated against the fluctuation limit.) |
Weighted Average Historical Rate |
Use this field to convert stockholders' equity balance (which is generally paid-in capital + retained earnings) stated in terms of functional currency to another company's balance sheet when consolidating financial statements. You can use this field when the stockholders' equity balance has multiple transactions posted to a particular account. This enables you to apply a weighted-average historical rate based on the individual historical rates for each transaction in a stockholders' equity account. |
Weighted Average Historical Rate Change % |
This field displays the weighted average historical rate change percentage. To calculate this percentage, Costpoint subtracts the prior weighted average historical rate from the current weighted average historical rate and divides the result by the prior weighted average historical rate. You cannot edit this field. (If you edit pre-existing rows of weighted average historical rates, only the edited row is validated against the fluctuation limit.) |
Notes |
You can enter a note of up to 254 alphanumeric characters for the exchange rate. |
