Sort Columns in a Table

Use the column headings to select the sort order of column entries in a table.

This procedure is applicable to table windows on the Parameters tab and numerical tables on the Reports tab. For information on other table window options you can use on the Parameters tab, see the Getting Started section of the online help (Getting Started > Application Functions > Application Functions: General Information).

To select the sort order for a column:

  1. Right-click the heading for the column.
  2. Select either Sort Ascending (that is, from the lowest value to the highest value) or Sort Descending (that is, from highest to lowest).

For Sort Ascending, the following rules apply:

    • For characters, an ascending order will be from A to Z.
    • For numeric digits, an ascending order is from the lowest number to the highest.
    • If both numeric digits and characters are in the list, numeric digits will be listed before characters.
For Sort Descending, the following rules apply:
    • For characters, a descending order will be from Z to A.
    • For numeric digits, a descending order is from the highest number to the lowest.
    • If both numeric digits and characters are in the list, characters will be listed before numeric digits.
